Lauren Wodicka

Lauren Wodicka is the founder and principal designer of Northern Virginia–based LBW Studio, a residential design firm known for creating interiors that feel welcoming, meant to be loved, and designed to be lived in.

Listening closely to how her clients live, not just what they like, Lauren approaches each home as a canvas for their personal stories. Valuing warmth over perfection, Lauren gravitates toward pieces with character and creates spaces that feel thoughtful and enduring rather than overly polished.

Design was part of Lauren’s life long before it became her profession. She grew up immersed in shelter magazines and design books, instinctively studying interiors and architecture before understanding them as a career path. She later studied fine arts and art history at James Madison University and the Lorenzo de’ Medici Institute in Florence, an education that continues to inform her approach to composition, color, and scale.

Lauren began selling artwork at a young age and spent her early career painting, exhibiting, and building a following throughout Virginia and Washington, DC. That work led her to open a studio in Old Town Alexandria, which evolved into a gallery showcasing her paintings alongside antiques and home furnishings. As clients responded to the layered environments she created, conversations about art and objects naturally expanded into broader design relationships.

Over time, interiors became the primary focus of her work. After seven years, she closed the gallery, relocated to Loudoun County to raise her family, and continued collaborating with longtime clients while expanding the studio’s reach. She worked closely with prominent designers and craftspeople on residential projects throughout the Mid-Atlantic and beyond, developing deep experience in custom finishes, furniture, murals, and full-home installations. This hands-on foundation remains central to her practice.

Known for going far beyond the expected in pursuit of the right solution, Lauren is deeply invested in the details. She has painted brick mantel surrounds on-site to achieve the precise finish, created custom landscape paintings at the exact scale for each room, and overseen full-home installations on the eve of major holidays. That dedication reflects her commitment to designing homes that bring ease, comfort, and joy to her clients’ everyday lives.

With an active presence within the regional design and arts community, she regularly participates in events and charitable initiatives, including the Bath County Art Show at The Homestead and showroom collaborations such as the Washington Design Center’s Holiday Fête and Virginia Tablescapes. In 2026, she was named a Community Choice Rising Star Grant Winner by STARK, further cementing her reputation as a designer to watch.

Today, the studio focuses on interior design for both historic homes and new construction, with projects spanning Virginia, Maryland, Florida, Ohio, Delaware, the Outer Banks, and California. Lauren believes homes should evolve with the families who live in them and be loved not only today but for generations to come.
